5 Things We Aim to Teach Patients About Chiropractic Care

When patients choose us for their care, we want to educate them about chiropractic and the best ways they can keep themselves healthy or maintain results.

Here are five things that are incredibly important for patients to understand.

1. Subluxations.

We want patients to understand this term because we use it frequently. It is our aim to have every chiropractic patient understand subluxations within the first 2 visits at our office. A subluxation is less than a complete dislocation of a joint, causing nerve interference. Our chiropractors correct subluxations through a series of spinal adjustments.

2. X-rays are important.

In order to know exactly what is occurring in your body and to tailor an individualized care plan for you, we often refer our patients for xrays. We’ll examine them before your second visit and then talk you through them so you can understand what’s going on inside your body.

3. You may hear a ‘popping’ sound during an adjustment—but this isn’t your bones cracking.

It’s actually gas escaping from your joints! It’s both completely safe and normal.

4. Chiropractic adjustments are relaxing.

Some patients new to chiropractic adjustments may be nervous to undergo their first one—but are often surprised at how pain-free it is. We use gentle and focused techniques, to correct subluxations and restore proper movement in the spine.

5. Continuing chiropractic care is always up to you.

After you’ve achieved your health goals, it’s your choice to visit us routinely for maintenance care. Think of it this way—you visit the dentist every six-twelve months even if nothing is wrong. This is because you want to keep your smile healthy. So, why not visit the chiropractor regularly to keep your spine healthy? After all, these is no replacement for the spine!
