After pregnancy, many women develop incontinence, an issue that often causes embarrassment and frustration. At Central Avenue Health Centre, we treat many women who have incontinence. We use RAPID NeuroFascial Reset (NFR), a neurologically based, technique.
How Does Incontinence Develop?
The vagus nerve ends up being compressed by a muscle in a woman’s pelvic floor area, which the therapist can treat from the gluteal region. After about three treatments, incontinence usually resolves, which gives moms one less thing to worry about.
Do Those Kegels
It’s also a good idea to perform Kegel exercises to control incontinence. Here’s how to do them:
- Relax your abdominal, thigh and buttocks muscles
- Tighten the muscles of your pelvic floor
- Hold the muscles for a count of 10
- Relax the pelvic floor muscles until you count to 10
It’s best to perform 10 Kegel exercises three times a day-in the morning, afternoon, and at night. You can do them while you’re driving, watching television or sitting at your desk-anywhere.
